Christian and Muslim Communities Work Together to Fight Terrorism in Kenya

ICC Note: In protest of recent mass arrests of Somali nationals living in Kenya, Christians and Muslims are working together to call on the national Kenyan government for greater national security and counter-terrorism intelligence efforts. Both the International Fellowship for Christ (IFC) and the Kenya National Muslim Advisory Council (KEMNAC) agree that constitutional protections of the right to freely worship must be protected in strengthening the nation’s borders and in countering terrorist activity. Both have made the case that strong-armed actions by the Kenyan government in response to attacks, like a recent shooting at a church in Mombasa that left four dead and several others severely injured, could spur rather than quell religiously-motivated violence.
